CMA CGM presented an electric barge with Nike and Gemadept on 29 October for Vietnam’s inland waterways. The round trip to Gemalink terminal covers 180 kilometres, using batteries charged with certified renewable electricity.
The partners estimate approximately 778 tonnes of avoided CO₂ emissions annually. That figure is a projection, rather than a measured full-year outcome. Zero direct emissions refers to the barge’s operation and should not be interpreted as a claim of zero emissions across its entire lifecycle.
