MOL and Deutsche ReGas announced on 29 October a long-term charter for a floating LNG storage and regasification unit at Germany’s Deutsche Ostsee terminal in Mukran. An LNG carrier will be converted at China’s Hudong-Zhonghua yard.

The charter is scheduled to begin in 2028. This is future Baltic gas-import infrastructure, rather than additional capacity already operating. The agreement expands MOL’s involvement in floating energy facilities while providing Deutsche ReGas with a planned long-term solution for the terminal.
