CMA CGM launched a dedicated rail service on 28 October from Mombasa port to the Nairobi-Embakasi Inland Container Depot. Its 54-wagon train offers 108 TEU capacity, linking Kenya’s maritime gateway with inland markets.
The initial schedule provides one weekly train carrying imported containers. Higher frequency and a return service remain possibilities to be assessed against demand, rather than confirmed additions. The initiative was developed with the Kenya Ports Authority and Kenya Railways Corporation as logistics partners.
