An IMO regional workshop in Lima, scheduled for 26–30 October, focused on ships’ routeing and reporting systems. The organisation published its update on 29 October.
Training covered preparing proposals under SOLAS and their assessment by the relevant IMO bodies, with collision and grounding prevention among the objectives. Peru’s maritime authority and Spain’s Jovellanos Centre supported the programme. This was a capacity-building event for maritime administrations, rather than an announcement introducing new mandatory navigation routes for commercial shipping.
