ECSA urged European lawmakers on 28 October to support adding two Indian ship-recycling facilities to the European list. According to the association, the Environment Committee is due to vote on an objection motion on 4 November.
ECSA argues that the facilities have been assessed against EU environmental and safety requirements. The development concerns approval procedures and compliant recycling capacity. It does not amount to blanket European recognition for Indian recycling yards or confirmation that the pending parliamentary process is complete.
